Lucas is a three-sport athlete who excels at football, basketball, and track. He prides himself in being early to practice and always prepared with hydration and fast-acting glucose if he drops low. He enjoys academics, particularly math and science. He hopes to work in the medical field one day.

Lucas was diagnosed in kindergarten right before Valentine’s Day, and he missed his class party. The paraprofessional who first noticed his T1D symptoms came to his house, delivering the Valentines from his classmates and a new book to show him she was thinking of him. Lucas’s classmates, teachers, and school nurses have always been great teammates in this T1D journey.
