Neyo is an energetic 11-year-old who loves cooking, history, and soccer. He also enjoys drawing, creating cardboard art, and attending rodeos. He has received a proclamation from the City of Keller, Texas, that each November is Diabetes Awareness Month. He has hosted a skating event and a dance glow party, raising awareness and funds for research. He has spoken on Zoom calls and at several schools, teaching about life with diabetes, showing his medical devices, reading books, and discussing treatment options.

Neyo was diagnosed with T1D in December of 2021. Unfortunately, his family, like so many others, missed the signs of DKA, diabetic ketoacidosis. Neyo was very sick, and thanks to his school nurse, he was rushed to Cook Children’s Hospital. After an exhausting stay, Neyo and his family made it their mission to educate and inform. No one should suffer from DKA because of not knowing the early signs of type 1 diabetes. Neyo is excited to head to Capitol Hill to speak with Congress and further his cause by spreading awareness.
