Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

Tommy was diagnosed with T1D at age 9 while living as an American ex-pat in Singapore. While not experiencing the same community or technology as he otherwise would have had in the U.S., he still managed to persevere and continue all the sports and activities he did prior to T1D (with a little more monitoring than normal in the heat of SE Asia!).

In 7th grade, he moved back to the U.S. and now depends on his CGM and pump to allow him to stay a three-sport athlete and maintain a 4.0 GPA. He recently surprised many teachers and students at his school when he and his mom did a booth at the school health fair, and everybody was able to witness all the struggles that go into living with type 1 diabetes. Tommy is eager to make change on Capitol Hill to make life easier for him and others with T1D!
