When Becca was diagnosed with T1D at age 7, an experienced T1D family visited them in the hospital to give them guidance and support. Becca never forgot their kindness and how much that visit meant to her and her mother. Since then, Becca and her mom have mentored over 20 newly diagnosed T1D families. “We’re paying it forward,” she says. In addition to providing outreach and serving as a JDRF Youth Ambassador, Becca raises funds for JDRF through her One Walk team and likes coming up with fun ideas for fundraisers, from crazy sock day at her school to making homemade dog treats to sell at her local dog park!

Becca enjoys studying science, especially anatomy and geology, and has a huge mineral and rock collection. She also stays busy playing soccer for her school, swimming with her friends, and doing art projects. One day she hopes to be a veterinarian with a big farm and “lots of animals.”
