Age at T1D diagnosis: 1
Reagan was diagnosed with T1D at the age of 18 months. She was the youngest DKA patient at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus. Reagan was in ICU for one day and admitted for four more days, and she remembers her cousins coming to visit her and riding around in a scooter at the hospital. Because Reagan was so young and small, she could not go home with a CGM or Pod. For the first six months of Reagan’s diagnosis, she had to get approximately 5-6 shots a day and 8-10 finger pricks a day, so she is very appreciative of the technological advancements as she still remembers those early days.
Reagan is a very active girl who loves school. She is in the gifted and talented program and loves learning about science and law. Reagan wants to be a doctor when she grows up and invent a cure for T1D. Reagan also loves trying new sports; she recently finished her first season of basketball and is about to begin horseback riding.
