Rachel is a nationally ranked tennis player who aspires to play tennis at the collegiate level. She is an honor-level student interested in science and math, specifically biotechnology. Living with T1D has made the life path Rachel has chosen to be more difficult but not impossible. Currently, she is playing tennis four days a week with tournaments on the weekends. T1D does not make this busy schedule easy. Rachel is one of the only female tennis players who is nationally ranked in junior tennis with T1D. She faces many challenges with highs and lows while performing top-tier tennis and during a rigorous workload while at school.
In the future, Rachel envisions further helping children who struggle with the disease while also being optimistic that technology and science will make huge strides towards innovative ways to manage type 1 and hopefully find a permanent cure.
