Age at T1D diagnosis: 7

Tacy is going global! Organizing JDRF Walks from England to Germany, this advocate and her brother both have T1D. “I am very open about my disease and love to talk about it to everyone. I teach about type 1 diabetes in Girl Scouts, at church, and just about every day.”

Gratitude is one tool in Tacy’s fight against T1D. She remembers once injecting herself in front of a friend who started crying, worried that Tacy was in pain. “I put my hands on her shoulders, looked her in the eyes and said, ‘I am so lucky and happy that I am able to be alive. The pain isn’t much compared to the joy of being able to talk to you today.’” A gifted student, Tacy also loves Irish step dancing, acting, and swimming.
