Diagnosed just a few months after his twin brother Drew received word that he had T1D, Cooper already “knew what I was in for,” he says. Thankfully, though, “watching my brother do all this first made it not as scary.” Cooper had also enrolled in a TrialNet clinical trial along with his sister. Since he and his brother have only had T1D for about a year, Cooper is still working out his own plan for T1D advocacy. But in the meantime, Cooper enjoys swimming, horseback riding, football and hunting. He hopes to become a dentist when he grows up, and has proudly earned a spot on the Superintendent’s List honor roll every nine weeks since he was in second grade.
