Adam’s grandfather, who was diagnosed with T1D as a teenager and suffered many complications, passed away several years ago. At first, this legacy frightened Adam, but today it inspires him and his family. “We are committed to making a better life not only for me, but for future generations.” Adam helps educate friends and family by writing newsletters about T1D, while his parents write to Congress asking for stem cell research support.
Adam is interested in studying the environment, field biology, and plant sciences. In fact, he has worked with scientists from Washington University on experiments through a training program at the Missouri Botanical Garden. He also participates in student-council and youth-group activities, and enjoys swimming, tennis, and gardening.
