Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 12

As someone currently living with T1D, Aidan looks forward to the day when he can say, “I no longer have diabetes.” He was diagnosed a few days after he turned 12 years old. Since then, Aidan has participated in Breakthrough T1D Walks and served as a Youth Ambassador and a Youth Advocacy Leader. He recently co-founded a health advocacy club at his school to address the challenges of chronic illnesses and has appeared on local news broadcasts to educate his community about clinical trials for new diabetes medical devices. He also completed a research internship at Stanford’s School of Medicine, focusing on using CRISPR technology to develop gene therapies for diseases like T1D.

In his spare time, Aidan enjoys woodworking and painting, and he plays soccer anywhere he can. He recently climbed Mount San Jacinto and loves to travel and discover new cities, often combining his adventures with visits to local thrift stores to find unique vintage clothing.
