Alex already has an impressive record in T1D advocacy. His mother and older sister Sophia also have T1D—and his entire family recently campaigned successfully to get full-time school nurses in their district. Adrian likes to speak in front of his class and local Rotary groups to help them understand what it’s like to live with T1D. Although it can be difficult because having an insulin pump makes him different from other kids, he says, “I am happy to have it so I don’t have to get as many shots and finger pokes.” In his spare time, Alex loves swimming, skiing and jumping on the trampoline. “I really hope there is a cure someday because I hate diabetes. I always say it’s the worst monster ever!”
