Inspired by her mother's hard work to raise awareness, Anna knows how important it is to teach everyone she knows about type 1 diabetes. "By teaching others, I raise awareness; and by raising awareness, I increase the chance of a cure being found." Diagnosed when she was four, Anna has learned a lot about managing her life with diabetes, which is her proudest accomplishment. Though living with type 1 can be hard, Anna still enjoys swimming, reading, dancing, and doing arts and crafts. She wants to learn more about helping the environment, and is also inspired to serve her country like her father did for 22 years in the Air Force. Anna and her Walk team, "Hope for Anna Grace," have raised over $10,000 for JDRF. As a delegate, she wants to continue to raise awareness and funds, and wants Congress to "see the face of diabetes."
