Caroline hopes to one day earn a Ph.D. and become a journalist, archaeologist, or documentarist. Diagnosed at age four, she hasn't let diabetes halt her dreams. Instead, she's encouraged by new technologies that have made her life easier, like the insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor. Caroline is confident that with persistent funding and research, improvements in the fight against type 1 diabetes will continue. To Congress, she says: "Sometimes, I am too weak to fight against diabetes and that's when I am reminded that I have all of my family and friends out there to support me. But we need your support, too." Caroline plays on the Junior Varsity soccer team at her school, and is a certified SCUBA diver. She's a diligent student, and a passionate supporter of JDRF, having signed up to be a Youth Ambassador and appearing in a Walk commercial for the Greater Cincinnati Chapter.
