Age at T1D diagnosis: 11

At just 12 years of age, Claire is quite an accomplished young woman. She is an athlete, photographer, actress, inventor and most recently appointed to Jane Goodall’s National Youth Leadership Council. After receiving her T1D diagnosis in March 2018, she was determined not to slow down. Claire has competed at the Junior Olympics in track and field, and is currently a nationally ranked breaststroker from Florida. In 2017, she was named the Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin Grand Prize winner in the Every Einstein Young Women’s Inventors Contest and is currently working on inventing something to improve the lives of the youngest affected by T1D. On her recent one year “diaversary,” Claire wrote a letter to her diabetes which said, “you have been a good opponent but it’s time that I win!”
