Danny enjoys soccer, football, basketball, swimming, and playing trombone in his school's band. He keeps busy, even if that means taking breaks from a sports game or disconnecting his insulin pump to swim.

Danny enjoys soccer, football, basketball, swimming, and playing trombone in his school's band. He keeps busy, even if that means taking breaks from a sports game or disconnecting his insulin pump to swim. Diagnosed at 15 months old, Danny says, "I try not to let my diabetes control me. I play sports, have lots of friends and do whatever any other kid does. Last year I even went to Bogota, Colombia where we adopted my big sister, Paula!" Danny, along with his family, organizes fundraisers for type 1. He participates in JDRF Walks and was a Walk Ambassador in 2008. Danny also met about diabetes with Congressman Kratovil, who gave Danny a private tour of Maryland's capitol building. As a delegate, Danny wants to tell members of Congress what it's like to live with type 1 diabetes.
