Davis was diagnosed at age six, and says many people don’t fully understand the “behind the scenes” challenges of type 1. His older brother Jett, who was also diagnosed two years ago, at 15, says he had never before realized how difficult the disease can be. That’s why Davis and his brother are JDRF Youth Ambassadors, educating others and raising awareness. The whole family volunteers with JDRF, raising money during Walk season, attending JDRF Galas, and participating in the Promise to Remember Me Campaign.
Davis also started a small business of making and selling bandana necklaces to benefit JDRF. Davis loves sports and riding his bike, and hopes to become an endocrinologist one day. As a delegate, Davis wants Congress to know that “we need Congress’s help in supporting all the diabetes research that will help us find a cure.”
