Dominic was diagnosed with T1D one month after he turned 5 years old. It was also the week of his preschool graduation, so the staff at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia gave him a special graduation on his discharge day. Dominic has always had a positive attitude, and when faced with challenges, he “looks for the silver lining.” He loves advocating for people with T1D and sharing his story. Dominic loves meeting people with T1D and always seeks ways to help others.
Dominic is a competitive swimmer. He loved being in the pool even as a baby and joined his first swim team a few weeks after he turned 5. His favorite stroke is breaststroke. He is also a Boy Scout and has earned several awards. He enjoys camping, hiking, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Dominic also loves doing community service and volunteering, especially for Breakthrough T1D. When he grows up, he wants to be an engineer, and he hopes to make it to the Olympics for swimming someday.
