Age at T1D diagnosis: 16 months

Duncan is a Cub Scout, plays baseball and is active in his school’s chess club. A participant in a gifted program called Encore, Duncan is a talented visual artist. He loves Star Wars and swimming. His family is active with JDRF’s Middle Tennessee Chapter, where his father is a board member. Duncan and his mother had the opportunity to meet with their Congressman, Representative Jim Cooper, as participants in the Promise to Remember Me initiative. “We have said from day one,” writes his mother, “when he was diagnosed at 16 months old, that was not a weakness in his life, but a point of strength. We are constantly amazed at how he handles the disease.”
