Elizabeth doesn’t let T1D slow her down one bit! She is an avid and competitive dancer who loves performing jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary—and drill team. She is currently in sixth grade and aspires to become a professional dancer. She says, “Dancing safely with diabetes takes extra work. I always carry glucose tablets, snacks and Gatorade with me in my dance pack because all the hours of dance often makes my blood sugar go low. When it’s low I stop dancing, take sugar and wait for it to come back up.” Dancing is very important to Elizabeth—and so is letting Congress know how it important it is to support research to help JDRF find a cure for T1D. She served as a Delegate to JDRF 2009 Children’s Congress and is proud to return with her mother Kimberly to act as chair family in 2015.
