Emily loves helping people, whether it be through serving as a student ambassador or being a helper at the school library. Every year for her birthday, she collects donations for charity instead of receiving gifts. When she grows up, Emily sees herself being a teacher. When she is not finding ways to help others, Emily is a fastpitch softball pitcher and enjoys making artwork and performing in plays and musicals. 

Emily was diagnosed with T1D during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but jumped right in with JDRF and found ways to educate her friends, classmates, and fellow campers about life with T1D. Emily is thankful for insulin and the T1D technology available to her, but worries about people who can’t afford insulin or don’t have access to T1D technology like continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. That’s why she’s a JDRF advocate. “Everyone should be able to get what their body needs to live an awesome life.”
