Emily’s photography has already earned accolades—and it has also highlighted life with T1D. Emily shot a photo showcasing “30 days of diabetes supplies featuring infusion sets, shots, test strips, alcohol wipes, and empty insulin bottles” for a recent competition. “I arranged them, took a picture, and entered my piece,” explains Emily. “My mom said I should arrange the supplies in some cool design, but I told her diabetes is messy. So I arranged it all together and focused in on the main things I use.” In addition to exploring her creativity, Emily loves playing soccer and figure skating, and she’d like to become a professional athlete someday. “It would be really cool if I could do those things and not have to worry about diabetes,” she says.
