We can go to each other when things are tough," she says. Along with their family, the sisters are JDRF advocates, spreading awareness, fundraising, and asking Congress for support. The girls give interviews to local and state media, visit outreach clinics, lend support to other children with diabetes, speak about type 1 to organizations, attend diabetes camp, and even presented Senator Byron Dorgan with the JDRF Legacy Award. Emma enjoys dancing, volleyball, soccer, being lakeside with family and friends, and visiting museums. She likes science and reading, and wants to travel – especially to Argentina – and see the places she's read about in books. As a delegate, Emma wants to help people better understand type 1.
