After serving as a delegate at Children’s Congress in 2017, Evan is excited to return to Washington, DC, as Chair Kid to continue advocating for T1D research funding. Though living with T1D can be rough, Evan believes that he will see a cure for T1D within his lifetime.
Evan was diagnosed with diabetes at age 6, the day before he was supposed to go on his first ski trip. He has volunteered with Breakthrough T1D for 10 years and has served as a Youth Ambassador, advocating for T1D causes with his local congressional representatives. He has led his Walk team, Evan’s Evangers, the top fundraising team in Orange County for the past few years. In 2023, he participated in his first clinical trial.
Evan is a 17-year-old junior in high school from Irvine, CA. He enjoys playing baseball for his high school and basketball with his friends, even though they haven’t won a game yet. In his spare time, he can be found playing games with friends online or playing board games. Once in college, Evan hopes to major in biomedical engineering or chemistry to help diabetics the same way he has been helped.
