Halmi has always been drawn to building things from the ground up. One of his favorite projects was launching a homemade rocket with his brother—an experience that deepened his curiosity about how things work and sparked his dream of becoming an engineer. His passion for problem-solving also led him to coding, where he has developed his programming skills through summer boot camps. He enjoys applying what he learns to real projects—like the Roblox game he built, which has surpassed 50,000 visits! In his free time, he also explores animation and enjoys sharing his creations online.

Growing up in a household familiar with T1D, Halmi understands the daily challenges of managing the disease. Over the years, he has become a strong advocate for T1D awareness, speaking at school events, participating in diabetes walks, and joining his sister at university-led discussions to educate others. One of his favorite Breakthrough T1D events is his chapter’s local picnics, where families come together to relax, connect, and enjoy a day of food, games, and community.
