Harper is a straight-A student and takes school very seriously because her goal is to become a pediatric endocrinologist. She wants to provide empathy and understanding to those newly diagnosed with T1D because she knows what it is like. Outside of the classroom, Harper is a member of the Frazier Leadership Institute, loves to travel (she has been to five countries so far), and adores her dog.
Harper enjoys public speaking and has shared her story about life with T1D at school, JDRF One Walks, Galas, and on television. Harper knows how important access to T1D technology is—her brother was the first child in Kentucky to receive an insulin pump almost 20 years ago! She says, “I don’t like to think diabetes is a big part of my life because I am lucky to have the tools to manage my disease. I don’t have to let my disease control me.” Harper advocates with JDRF for those who don’t have access to the tools and technology that make managing the disease easier.
