Though Henry finds living with T1D challenging at times, he tries not to let it impact his life too much. Not only did he join a clinical trial shortly after his diagnosis at age 10, but he also held a Breakthrough T1D fundraiser, walking 100 miles in 30 days! A few years later, inspired by his son’s determination, Henry’s father decided to run the length of England’s M1 motorway (over 190 miles long). He raised over £20,000 for Breakthrough T1D and was featured on TV with Henry to raise awareness about T1D.
Henry is a Breakthrough T1D Ambassador. He plays for his local football and cricket teams and is the bass player in a band. He also teaches karate to children and is working toward his black belt! He’s thankful for advances in T1D technology, including CGMs, that help make life easier. Henry looks forward to highlighting the importance of funding research and making T1D tools and therapies accessible to everyone who needs them.
