Hunter is reaching new heights… and it’s not just because he’s an accomplished pole vaulter. (He even taught himself to vault!) Hunter has raised more than $30,000 for JDRF in the years since he was diagnosed, serves as a Youth Ambassador, helps out at JDRF Galas, golf and volleyball tournaments and breakfasts, and has hosted movie nights to help share T1D information with his community. Hunter draws his inspiration from others who live with T1D. “The speakers I’ve gotten to hear (Gary Hall Jr.; Eric Tozer, an extreme athlete from Team Type 1; Steve Richert, an adventure climber who ‘lives vertical’ with type 1, and many more) have been so amazing, and to hear their stories, I know I can do great things even though I have diabetes,” he says.
