Ibrahim is a sophomore in high school. He loves to play basketball and soccer. He plays for his school basketball team and likes to hang out with his friends. Ibrahim was diagnosed with T1D towards the end of his 7th-grade year. It was hard at first and it took some time to get used to. He didn’t want to tell his friends and kept it to himself. At school, during lunch, he went to the nurse’s office to do carb counting, and his friends would ask him why he was going there and not the cafeteria. He would just make an excuse and say, “Don’t worry about it.” Now he’s more open about it. He doesn’t let T1D stop him from playing basketball, going to practice, or hanging out with friends.
