Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 10

Jackson recently won the state of Arkansas honors math competition for Beta Club and is now moving on to compete in nationals! He also plays basketball, baseball, and cross country.

Jackson uses an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor, which help him manage his T1D while he is active. The pump’s activity mode is especially helpful during sports! When he grows up, he thinks about being a medical researcher.

Jackson was diagnosed with T1D in fifth grade and was fortunate to have a good friend who had been diagnosed with T1D about one year before him, so they were able to support each other through the hard times.

He has been a Northwest Arkansas ambassador for two years now for Breakthrough T1D and enjoys educating his professors, coaches, and peers about T1D and how to support those with it. He also does a lot of peer education for kids newly diagnosed with T1D, working to erase the stigma and demonstrating that T1D shouldn’t hold anyone back from doing what they love!
