Age: 14
Age at T1D diagnosis: 3

Jaime loves baseball and hopes to one day play professionally. He was born in Puerto Rico and speaks Spanish fluently, which comes in handy because he and his mother are dedicated to educating other Hispanic families about how to live happy and healthy lives with T1D. Although insulin pumps and CGMs help ease the burden of managing this disease, Jaime says, “One thing does worry me, not everyone has access to this technology; the cost of it makes it literally impossible for some people to afford.” Jaime is also a JDRF Mentor and takes part in JDRF One Walk. “When I look at my dreams and goals I don’t see my type 1 diabetes as an obstacle, I know it will make things more interesting, but I’m not a quitter.”
