"Jed's Joggers" have raised almost $100,000 for the JDRF Walk, and the team's Walk letter is what sparked NFL player Jared Allen's involvement with JDRF. A Youth Ambassador for the Kansas City Chapter's Gala, Jed got to give Jared a 2010 Living and Giving Award. Jed, diagnosed at age three, works hard to raise funds for diabetes research. He holds a yearly fundraiser at his school, has organized a fundraising carwash and raffle, and met with his congressman through the Promise to Remember Me Campaign. Jed says his family "realized that life doesn't always go as planned, and when it doesn't, you just have to adapt, and I think we've done just that." Jed enjoys soccer, volleyball, building things from wood, and cooking. He's a black belt in karate and a Student Council member. Jed's interested in becoming a scientist and in helping to find a cure for type 1.
