When Jolie left the hospital after her T1D diagnosis, she went right to dance class. On top of being a competitive dancer, she’s a proud member of the National Junior Honor Society, a dedicated tennis player, and a black belt in karate. In the future, Jolie’s goal is to become a pediatric endocrinologist, assuming there isn’t a cure by then! She wants to help others who are diagnosed with T1D and show them that things will get easier. She says, “We can find the silver lining in everything in life, even during the most challenging times.”
Jolie is the only person living with T1D at her school and in all her activities, so she has found many ways to spread awareness about the disease. Whether it is through lemonade stands, pizza party fundraisers, maker’s fairs, or her work as a JDRF Youth Ambassador, Jolie does all she can to raise funds for JDRF and help find a cure for T1D.
