Jonas was diagnosed at age six, and says that until he was 10, he let diabetes control his life. At age 10, however, he became part of a trial project that gave insulin pumps to teenagers, and he has since felt much more empowered.

Jonas was diagnosed at age six, and says that until he was 10, he let diabetes control his life. At age 10, however, he became part of a trial project that gave insulin pumps to teenagers, and he has since felt much more empowered. He is an active volunteer on JDRF's Walk committee, and has been featured in Hjemmet magazine, discussing life as a teenager with diabetes. Jonas is a talented math student and enjoys cycling. He dreams of becoming an engineer or firefighter, although the Danish government does not allow people with diabetes to work in the fire department. "I hope to open the eyes of the Danish ministers, so more people with diabetes in Denmark can get pump treatment, and can be allowed to work as firefighters," he says. As a delegate, Jonas hopes to learn a lot of information that he can share with others in Denmark.
