Kayla was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2020, a particularly challenging year, but she has never let it hold her back. She loves advocating for T1D awareness and enjoys it when people ask about her devices so she can educate others.

Kayla is currently balancing both high school and college to prepare for her future. She dreams of becoming the Executive Director of Breakthrough T1D Desert West Chapter, where she can continue working toward a cure and spreading awareness. Kayla has learned that, even with type 1 diabetes, she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
