Age: 17
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

After her diagnosis with T1D, Leah had to make a decision: take control of her T1D or let it dominate her life. Leah chose to overcome it and learn how to manage it in a way that fits her lifestyle. Now a junior in high school, Leah is an editor at her school newspaper and an Oracle in Model UN. Leah is excited to tell her story to Congress, and in the future, she’d like to become a journalist so she can “advocate and tell stories that are important in making society better.”
