Since her diagnosis at age six, Madison's tried to keep a positive outlook on life. She even asked her mom to throw a diabetes "anniversary" party to celebrate everything they've learned and improved upon in her first year with diabetes.

Since her diagnosis at age six, Madison's tried to keep a positive outlook on life. She even asked her mom to throw a diabetes "anniversary" party to celebrate everything they've learned and improved upon in her first year with diabetes. Optimism isn't always easy, but Madison knows it's important. She talks to friends about diabetes so that they understand and can recognize the symptoms, and she works hard to fundraise for diabetes research. Madison participates in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, she ran a lemonade stand with her younger sister's help, and her family has held a golf outing to raise money, among other efforts. So far, Madison has helped raise $6,000 for JDRF. In her free time, she enjoys basketball, softball, and dance, and one day hopes to work with animals. Madison wants to raise awareness about diabetes and share why funding is so important for children like her.
