Porter was diagnosed with T1D in April 2023. Although he was very sick at the time, his doctor acted quickly and got him to his local children’s hospital, where he learned the tools needed to manage his life with T1D. Shortly after leaving the hospital, a representative from Breakthrough T1D reached out to connect him with resources. Although Porter lives in rural Nebraska, he has been actively involved in T1D events and believes feeling connected and not alone is important. He enjoys attending camps and meeting new friends who also have T1D.

Porter loves video and board games and has been practicing taekwondo since age 4. He enjoys traveling with his family, spending time with animals, hanging out with friends, and participating in 5k walks and runs. A master LEGO builder, Pokémon card enthusiast, and anime fan, Porter is always exploring new hobbies. He dreams of becoming an archaeologist or paleontologist when he grows up.
