Ruby is a rising junior in high school and has been living with diabetes since the age of 5. She loves playing soccer, running track, and being with the people she loves. After high school, Ruby plans to pursue a pre-med career, majoring in biochemistry and eventually entering the emergency medical field of trauma surgery. To get a head-start on her medical experience, Ruby volunteers at her local hospital in the summer. Aside from volunteering, Ruby spends most of her time playing soccer and being at her camp on the lake.
To further her connections with her community, Ruby is a member of the Key Club (Kiwanis) at her high school and the upcoming chapter president for the newly formed Best Buddies club. Ruby has always been confident about her diabetes, never hiding her pump and continuously trying to teach and inform her friends about the condition. “I don’t want any kid to feel like they should be ashamed of their diabetes, which is why I want to spread awareness and knowledge throughout my community and even further.”
