Sadie was diagnosed on Thanksgiving in 2022. No one wants T1D, but she was relieved to get an answer after feeling sick for quite some time. It also helped that she had close friends with T1D, and she was able to Facetime with them from her hospital bed to compare BGs. The day was long, and the experience was life-changing, but in the end, she was relieved she got to go home—especially because she got to have mashed potatoes and turkey (but sadly, no gravy).
Sadie is a softball player who trains year-round. She has been playing since she was 5 years old and is a true utility player, though catching is her passion. She loves the sport SO MUCH that when she was diagnosed, her first question to the doctor was, “Can I still play softball?” Her dream is to play in college someday. Fingers crossed, it’s UConn. When Sadie isn’t playing softball, she’s lifting weights, playing on her high school volleyball team, bringing designs to life in her fashion design class, and singing in the treble choir.
