Sarah enjoys singing in several choirs and serving as a mentor to newly diagnosed teens in her hometown of Columbus. Life with T1D has always felt normal for Sarah. She explains, “Because I was diagnosed so young, I really don’t remember what it was like to live without diabetes.” With her JDRF One Walk team, ‘Sarah’s Super Striders,’ she has raised more than $65,000 for JDRF. Sarah also shares her story by speaking with younger students at her school about life with T1D. She is looking forward to advocating on behalf of all Ohioans with T1D because, as she says, “research has made, and will continue to make, life with diabetes safer and easier to manage.” The artificial pancreas makes her the most excited because “having the artificial pancreas will make my life so much safer and easier.”
