Age: 16
Age at T1D diagnosis: 9

“I am proud of the fact that I don’t let T1D define who I am,” says Sorin. Like all kids with T1D, Sorin is more than his diagnosis: he’s a competitive athlete, a Notre Dame fan, an honors student, a mission trip participant, a science fair award winner, a dedicated JDRF Walk team captain and an inspiring public speaker on behalf of T1D. And he has great plans for his future. “I have been so impacted by the doctors that have helped me, I dream of going to medical school and helping develop cures for people with chronic diseases,” says Sorin. “I still hope and pray there will be a cure for T1D before I graduate from medical school, but I know there are many diseases that need supportive researchers and physicians.”
