Sterling is 12 years old and enjoys playing football and basketball with his friends and brothers. He is active in his 4-H club and has traveled the state to compete in food challenge and meat judging competitions. His favorite way to relax is spending time with his cats, dogs, and goats.

Sterling was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 3 years old. His father and one of his brothers also live with T1D. Sterling has been a Breakthrough T1D Youth Ambassador since 2019, and he has greatly enjoyed participating in Breakthrough T1D events, such as Walk and Gala, where he has the opportunity to meet other kids like him and advocate for those living with T1D.
