Age: 5
Age at T1D diagnosis: 1

This year, Miles started playing T-ball, soccer and basketball. When he grows up he wants to be a member of the Army, a police officer or a dog walker. Miles and his mom are also very busy advocating for T1D research. They’ve taken part in five JDRF One Walks, met with their Representative twice and mentored several families who are new to T1D. Miles says, “I’ve been able to meet lots of new friends by mentoring even though they are going through a very scary time.” Although sometimes Miles feels tired or gets in a bad mood when his blood glucose is out of range, he tries to focus on the positive. “I like to show people how strong and healthy I am despite my battle with T1D.”
