Robert is a JDRF star. He has received the Aaron Family Award for volunteer work from the Houston Gulf Coast Chapter, organized a Walk team ("I Hate Needles"), raised over $50,000 for diabetes research, and received the Sapphire Circle of Excellence Award for raising over $10,000 each year. Says Robert: "I hope to convince Congress to continue to fund the Special Diabetes Program so research projects are not stopped and a cure can be found." From the moment he was diagnosed at age nine, Robert was inspired by JDRF. By attending the Walk to Cure Diabetes and other events, he saw how others with diabetes manage to live active lives, and realized that he could, too. A sports enthusiast, Robert enjoys golf, wrestling, football, and lacrosse. He also likes to fish, sail, and hunt, participates in choir and drama, and is consistently on the Honor Roll.
